About Kokako Software
I'm Kent Skinner, the founder of Kokako Software. The name "Kokako" comes from a bird that lives in the country of my birth, New Zealand. It is known for its beautiful, haunting song. You can listen to its song here.
A brief biography
I was born and raised in New Zealand, where I attended the University of Auckland to study computer science and mathematics. I was awarded a scholarship to study at the ANU( Australian National University) in Canberra, Australia, where I completed my BSc(hons) degree and achieved a university medal for my thesis "Temporal Data Mining Techniques for Classification of Time Series Data".
I worked at the university for a year as a research programmer, working on parallel computing applications. I was then recruited to join Microsoft in Redmond, WA, where I spent seven years working on the WinForms team, the SPOT (Smart Personal Objects Technology) team, and HD-DVD.
I then joined Velocity Partners, and worked as a consultant with a variety of clients for two years, assisting them in implementing agile methodologies.
For the last year I have been working on enterprise project portfolio management software at Daptiv, Inc. In 2009, I founded Kokako Software and became an independent consultant.
